Download Manual The 12G-AMA-R-ST is a compact 12G-SDI mini-converter that embeds and disembeds balanced analog audio for SDI signals up to 4K/UltraHD. It integrates a single ST fiber receiver SFP to extend 4K signals over long distances while maintaining full 12G-SDI support. The unit automatically detects and configures the input video standard for seamless operation.
The converter provides four balanced analog channels for embedding and disembedding audio, available as four analog outputs at all times. Embedding is user selectable on a channel pair basis, allowing either pass-through of incoming embedded audio or override with the analog inputs. Analog audio levels are configurable via Mini-Config for professional and consumer reference levels.
Video performance includes single link support for SD, HD, 2K, UltraHD and 4K formats at standard frame rates and color depths up to 10-bit 4:4:4 or 4:2:2. Embedded audio support follows SMPTE standards with up to 16 channels supported and professional grade 24-bit digital audio converters. Measured audio latency is low with typical embed and disembed paths on the order of 1100 to 1200 microseconds.
Connectivity consists of 1x 12G-SDI BNC input, 1x 12G-SDI BNC output, and 1x 12G-SDI Fiber ST receiver input for singlemode links. A 25-pin D female connector on the converter provides balanced analog I/O and the supplied breakout cable breaks these out to four XLR female inputs and four XLR male outputs. A USB port provides access to AJA Mini-Config for format and level configuration while an external DIP switch offers basic local control.
This mini-converter fits in constrained installations such as camera rigs, behind monitors, or in compact racks where space is limited. Typical applications include broadcast studios, OB trucks, master control rooms, and live event systems that require analog audio integration with SDI infrastructures. The included universal power supply and optional P-TAP support make battery or mains operation straightforward in the field.
