Download Manual The 12G-AMA-TR is a compact converter that embeds and disembeds balanced analog audio on 12G-SDI signals up to 4K UltraHD. It provides four analog inputs and four analog outputs on a supplied XLR breakout to bridge legacy analog audio and modern SDI workflows. The unit includes a single LC fiber transceiver for long-distance 12G-SDI transport.
Audio disembedding is always available, delivering four balanced analog outputs for monitoring or downstream processing. Audio embedding is selectable per channel pair allowing either the original embedded audio to pass or the analog inputs to be embedded into the SDI stream. Analog audio levels are selectable via Mini-Config to match Pro or Consumer reference levels.
The 12G-SDI I/O supports single-link SD/HD/2K/UltraHD/4K formats and automatically detects input video standards. The converter supports 10-bit RGB and YCbCr, 4:4:4 and 4:2:2, and embedded audio per SMPTE 272M and 299M. Latency is minimal with embed path around 1100 microseconds and disembed path around 1200 microseconds.
Connectivity includes a 12G-SDI BNC input and output, an LC fiber input and output, and a 25-pin D connector for balanced analog audio with an included breakout cable providing XLR I/O. USB connectivity enables configuration via AJA Mini-Config software and settings are also available via external DIP switches. The supplied single-channel LC SFP transceiver enables fiber extension of 4K signals over long distances compliant with SMPTE fiber standards.
Common applications include live production environments where analog audio must be combined with SDI video, OB vans linking remote cameras over fiber, and broadcast facilities integrating analog consoles or legacy audio processors. The unit is designed for use in racks, behind monitors, or on camera rigs where space is limited. Supported formats and selectable analog levels make it adaptable to a wide range of audio/video systems.
Installation is straightforward using the external DIP switches or Mini-Config USB interface for advanced configuration and firmware updates.
