Description
The AT-HD-M2C is an HDMI audio converter that extracts and down-mixes multichannel HDMI audio to 2-channel stereo outputs. It converts common digital audio formats including Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby TrueHD, DTS-HD Master Audio and PCM into stereo signals for legacy zones and 2-channel equipment. The unit is compact and designed for simple integration into multi-zone and whole-home AV systems.
The converter supports full-format compatibility and automatic down-mixing from 7.1/5.1 sources to stereo while preserving the original multichannel feed where supported. It provides optical and coaxial digital outputs plus analog stereo L/R outputs and a simultaneous HDMI output. The device includes EDID handling, LED status indicators, HDCP compliance and mini USB for firmware updates.
Internally the unit accepts a wide range of audio formats and sample rates and delivers clean stereo audio with low distortion and high signal-to-noise ratio. Supported sample rates include 44.1kHz, 48kHz, 96kHz and 192kHz; measured THD is 0.0025% at 48kHz and SNR is 106dB. Optical and coaxial digital outputs provide PCM 2Ch at 48kHz while analog outputs provide 2Ch L/R at 48kHz.
Connectivity includes HDMI input and HDMI output, optical Toslink output, digital coaxial output, analog stereo RCA outputs, and a mini USB port for firmware updates. The device supports CEC pass through and is fully HDCP compliant to pass protected content. It integrates cleanly with HDMI switchers and matrix systems to distribute audio to multiple zones.
The AT-HD-M2C is ideal for mixed-zone installations where a single source must serve both multichannel home theater zones and 2-channel zones like kitchens or bedrooms. It eliminates the need for duplicate sources by allowing full multichannel audio to continue to the theater while providing down-mixed stereo to other zones. The optional firmware V2.1.0 enables HDMI multi-channel pass through while still providing 2-channel analog outputs.
Installation is plug-and-play with no programming required, and the unit operates from a universal external power supply. LED indicators display incoming digital audio format type for fast troubleshooting and the small form factor simplifies rack or shelf placement. Mini USB firmware updating ensures the device can be kept current with format and compatibility updates.
