Description
The CCS-USB is a compact camera control unit and PC software package designed to manage professional PTZ cameras using VISCA and PELCO protocols. It provides centralized control of camera settings and pan/tilt/zoom functions through a USB-connected interface. The unit is USB powered and built for mobile deployment and desktop installations.
Key features include multi-serial port support, automatic COM port setup via the included software, and protocol compatibility for both SONY VISCA and PELCO control systems. The CCS-USB supports up to 7 primary VISCA cameras and up to 255 PELCO cameras for third-party control. The package also includes an RS232 to Cross-RJ45 converter cable for extended communication runs.
Technical capabilities include RS-232C communication via an 8-pin mini DIN connector and RS-485/RS-422 connectivity via a terminal block connector. VISCA protocol functions support image adjustments such as contrast, saturation, sharpness and gamma, plus exposure modes and white balance options. The device is USB interfaced for PC integration and is compatible with both Windows and Mac OSX operating systems.
Connectivity options cover local USB connection to the host PC, direct RS-232 camera control and multi-drop RS-485/RS-422 connections via terminal block. The software provides a graphical user interface that configures COM ports automatically and exposes camera controls for image, exposure, white balance and backlight settings. Included accessory CBL-RJ45 enables RS-232 to cross-RJ45 wiring for longer cable runs.
Typical applications include broadcast control rooms, lecture capture systems, corporate presentation setups and live event production where multiple PTZ cameras require centralized control. The CCS-USB is suited to environments that need reliable remote camera adjustment and programmed camera presets. It also supports mixed fleets of VISCA and PELCO devices for heterogeneous system deployments.
Installation is straightforward – connect the CCS-USB to a computer via USB, link cameras via RS-232 or RS-485/RS-422 and run the supplied software to auto-configure ports. The unit’s compact, rugged housing and low 50 g weight make it easy to rack, mount or carry between sites. The device operates across a standard indoor temperature range and requires no external power supply beyond the USB connection.
