Description
The CM500i is a 5.25 inch coaxial in-ceiling speaker designed to deliver clear speech and music reproduction in commercial and residential installations. It combines a polypropylene woofer and a titanium tweeter mounted on a cast-aluminum motor board to maintain stable performance across its operating range. The low-profile grille and paintable bezel allow the speaker to integrate visually into finished ceilings without drawing attention.
Key features include SoundTube BroadBeam waveguide technology for consistent dispersion across the critical 2 to 10 kHz range and a six-position tap switch that supports 25, 70.7 and 100 volt constant-voltage systems or transformer bypass for low-impedance use. The driver complement is a 5.25 inch woofer and a 1.0 inch convex titanium tweeter with FerroFluid cooling to extend high-frequency reliability. A ported enclosure and cast-aluminum motor-board provide controlled low-frequency response and thermal management.
Performance specifications include a rated frequency response of 75 Hz to 22 kHz (-3 dB) and a wider response to 55 Hz at -10 dB. Sensitivity is 86.5 dB at 2.83 V/1 m, maximum program power is 150 W and RMS continuous power is 75 W, yielding a maximum SPL of 105.5 dB at 1 m. Coverage is broad and even – averaged directivity from 2 to 10 kHz is 105 degrees – supporting intelligible speech and even music coverage across a listening area.
Connectivity is straightforward for pro AV installations with a four-pin 5.08 mm Euroblock input for individual or daisychained wiring and a tool-free magnetic grille assembly that eases servicing. The six-position tap selector provides 25, 70.7 and 100 volt taps plus a transformer-bypass position for 8 ohm use. Included accessories such as a tile bridge, conduit plate and paint mask assist on-site integration and code-compliant installations.
The CM500i is suited to paging, background music, conference rooms, retail and hospitality environments where even coverage and speech intelligibility are required. Its BroadBeam waveguide maintains consistent off-axis response so listeners receive similar tonal balance even when not directly under the speaker. The combination of sensitivity and power handling reduces amplifier requirements for distributed audio zones.
Installation uses a rapid blind-mount fixed-wing system with constant-tension clamps compatible with ceiling thicknesses from 0.25 inch to 1.91 inch. The grille is steel with a powder-coat finish and ships black or white; it is removable and paintable to match decor. The speaker is UL 1480 and 2043 approved, and optional pre-construction and junction box accessories are available to simplify rough-in and code compliance.
