Description
The CM500i is a 5.25-inch coaxial in-ceiling speaker designed to deliver clear full-range audio in distributed sound systems. It provides extended low-frequency response down to 55 Hz and a specified operating bandwidth of 75 Hz to 22 kHz. The driver configuration and BroadBeam waveguide help maintain consistent coverage across listening areas.
Key features include a 5.25 inch polypropylene woofer and a 1.0 inch convex titanium tweeter mounted on a cast-aluminum baffle and heat sink. The patented BroadBeam waveguide provides uniform dispersion across 2 to 10 kHz for improved intelligibility. A six-position tap switch supports 25 V, 70.7 V and 100 V lines and includes a transformer bypass position.
Performance metrics include a sensitivity of 86.5 dB (2.83 V/1 m), 75 W continuous RMS power handling and 150 W program power. Maximum SPL at 1 m is 105.5 dB and coverage averages 105 degrees across 2 to 10 kHz. Directivity values are 4.8 Q averaged 100 Hz to 10 kHz and a directivity index of 6.1 dB averaged over the same band.
Connectivity is provided via a four-pin 5.08 mm Euroblock with options for individual feed or daisy-chain wiring. The unit ships with a tile bridge, conduit plate and paint mask to simplify installation in typical ceiling plenum spaces. The steel grille is powder-coated and paintable for finish matching.
Typical applications include background music and paging in retail, hospitality, corporate and educational facilities where ceiling-mounted distributed audio is required. The BroadBeam waveguide and coaxial design support even coverage and clear speech intelligibility in rooms with dropped ceilings. The selectable transformer taps enable use on centralized constant-voltage systems or low-impedance amplifiers.
Installation is rapid using a constant-tension fixed-wing mounting system that accommodates ceiling thicknesses from 0.25 in to 1.91 in. The magnetic grille is tool-free and includes an integrated safety cable for service access and field painting. The CM500i meets UL 1480 (UEAY) and 2043 approvals for safety and plenum use, and is available in white or black finishes.
