Description
The CM600i is a 6.5 inch coaxial in-ceiling speaker designed to deliver broad, intelligible coverage for distributed audio systems. It combines a polypropylene woofer and a convex aluminum tweeter with SoundTube BroadBeam waveguide technology to maintain consistent dispersion across the mid and high frequencies. The speaker is available in black or white finishes and includes mounting hardware for rapid blind-mount installation.
Key features include a BroadBeam waveguide that produces even off-axis response between 2 and 10 kHz, an integrated cast-aluminum motor-board for thermal stability, and a six-position tap switch that supports 25 V, 70.7 V, and 100 V systems plus a transformer bypass. The driver complement is one 165 mm polypropylene woofer and a 25 mm convex aluminum tweeter with FerroFluid cooling. The design delivers an average sensitivity of 88 dB to reduce required amplifier power.
Performance specifications include a measured frequency response of 69 Hz to 22 kHz at -3 dB and extended response to 52 Hz at -10 dB. Continuous RMS power handling is 90 W with a 180 W program rating and a maximum SPL of 107.5 dB at 1 m. Coverage is broad – 135 degrees at 2 kHz and 100 degrees at 10 kHz – with an averaged coverage angle of approximately 110 degrees from 2 to 10 kHz.
The CM600i offers flexible connectivity and system integration with a four-pin 5.08 mm Euroblock input for individual or daisy-chained connections and an easy-access six-position rotary tap selector that includes a transformer bypass position. The included tile bridge, paint mask, conduit plate, and Euroblock connector simplify installation in new or retrofit ceilings. Optional pre-construction bracket and junction box accessories are available for planning-stage installations.
Typical applications include background and foreground music in retail spaces, hospitality venues, corporate offices, and education facilities where wide, consistent coverage and low audible distortion are required. The speaker’s BroadBeam dispersion and edge-to-edge intelligibility make it appropriate for distributed speaker arrays and rooms with reflective surfaces. Its sensitivity and power handling make it suitable for both low-power paging systems and higher-output music playback.
Installation is fast and secure via a constant-tension fixed-wing mounting system that accommodates ceiling thicknesses from 6.4 mm to 48.5 mm. The grille is magnetic and tool-free for paintability and service, and the steel grille is finished with a protective powder coat for durability. UL 1480 (UEAY) and UL 2043 approvals provide code-compliance confidence for many commercial installations.
