Description
The CM600i is a 6.5 inch coaxial in-ceiling speaker designed to deliver clear speech intelligibility and balanced music reproduction. It provides extended low-frequency response and consistent off-axis performance across critical mid and high bands. The design combines a polypropylene woofer and convex aluminum tweeter to maintain reliable performance in commercial ceiling installations.
Key features include SoundTube BroadBeam waveguide tweeter technology for uniform dispersion and a six-position tap switch for 25V / 70.7V / 100V systems plus a transformer bypass. The speaker includes a cast-aluminum motor-board, ferrofluid-cooled tweeter, and a steel powder-coated grille with tool-free magnetic attachment. A rapid-install blind-mount fixed-wing mechanism secures the assembly into ceiling thicknesses from 6.4 mm to 48.5 mm.
Performance specifications include a nominal sensitivity of 88 dB, frequency response of 69 Hz to 22 kHz (-3 dB) and extended response to 52 Hz at -10 dB. Maximum continuous RMS power is 90 W with 180 W program power and a maximum SPL of 107.5 dB at 1 m. Coverage is engineered for wide-area applications with an averaged 110deg dispersion from 2 to 10 kHz.
Connectivity is provided via a four-pin 5.08 mm Euroblock for individual or daisy chained connections. A six-position rotary tap selector allows easy selection of transformer taps or bypass for low-impedance operation. The grille and bezel assembly are magnetic and removable for painting or servicing without tools.
Typical applications include distributed background music, paging and voice evacuation systems, retail and hospitality ceiling audio, and conference rooms where consistent coverage and speech clarity are required. The CM600i is UL 1480 and 2043 approved which supports installation in plenum and life-safety environments. Optional pre-construction brackets and junction boxes are available for new-build projects.
Installation is straightforward using the included tile bridge, conduit plate and constant-tension fixed-wing mounting system. The steel grille provides durability while the drawn aluminum backcan and ABS baffle manage internal resonance. Overall, the CM600i balances installation features, coverage control and power handling for reliable commercial ceiling audio deployment.
