Description
The CM800i is an 8-inch coaxial in-ceiling speaker designed to deliver clear full-range audio in commercial and installed-audio environments. It combines a polypropylene woofer and titanium tweeter mounted on a cast-aluminum motor board for stable acoustic performance. The design emphasizes broad, consistent dispersion to reduce speaker count while maintaining vocal clarity.
Key features include SoundTube BroadBeam waveguide technology for consistent coverage across the critical 2 to 10 kHz band, a six-position tap selector for 25/70.7/100-volt systems plus transformer bypass, and a low-profile magnetic grille with integrated safety cable. The speaker uses FerroFluid-cooled titanium tweeter and a polypropylene woofer with a butyl rubber surround to manage thermal and mechanical stress. A 66-watt transformer is incorporated for distributed audio applications while supporting transformer bypass for low-impedance use.
Performance specifications include a measured frequency response of 97 Hz to 22 kHz at -3 dB and extended response to 71 Hz at -10 dB. Sensitivity is 90 dB at 2.83 V/1 m, program power handling is 250 W, and continuous RMS power is 125 W. Maximum SPL at 1 m reaches 111 dB, and the BroadBeam waveguide yields an averaged coverage angle of approximately 120 degrees from 2 to 10 kHz.
Connectivity is handled via a removable four-pin 5.08 mm Euroblock that supports individual feed or daisy-chain wiring. The six-position rotary tap selector provides fixed taps for common commercial voltages plus a transformer bypass position for 8-ohm operation. The unit is compatible with standard ceiling thicknesses from 6.4 mm to 48.5 mm and includes a tile bridge, conduit plate and paint mask for installation flexibility.
Typical applications include background music and paging in hospitality venues, conference rooms and retail spaces where even coverage and speech intelligibility are priorities. The BroadBeam dispersion reduces hot spots and provides consistent timbral balance across the listening area. The CM800i is suitable for both distributed 70.7 V systems and low-impedance amplifier-driven zones.
Installation is simplified by a fixed-wing constant-tension mounting system that secures the speaker in ceilings quickly and reliably. The cast-aluminum motor-board and drawn-aluminum backcan contribute to durability and heat management during sustained operation. UL 1480 and 2043 approvals are included to meet common safety and plenum requirements in commercial installations.
