Description
The CM890i is an 8 inch coaxial in-ceiling speaker engineered to deliver clear voice and music reproduction in distributed audio and high-SPL installations. It pairs an 8.0 inch treated fiber low-frequency driver with a high-power compression high-frequency transducer. The speaker is available in a black finish and includes mounting hardware for quick installation.
Key features include a BroadBeamHP waveguide for consistent dispersion, a six-position 66-watt transformer with bypass, and a cast-aluminum motor board for thermal management. The BroadBeamHP design produces even coverage across the listening area and improves speech intelligibility across the critical 2 to 8 kHz band. The selectable transformer taps support 25V, 70.7V and 100V systems while offering a transformer bypass for 8 ohm direct-drive use.
Performance specifications include a sensitivity of 93.0 dB (2.83 V / 1 m), a frequency response of 80 Hz to 22 kHz (-3 dB), and a maximum SPL of 114 dB at 1 m. Power handling is rated to 125 W RMS and 250 W program for reliable high-output operation. Directivity and coverage are optimized using the waveguide, with averaged coverage near 105 degrees from 2 to 10 kHz.
Connectivity is handled through a four-pin 5.08 mm Euroblock connector for individual or daisy-chain wiring. The six-position rotary tap selector provides quick field selection of transformer taps or a bypass position for low-impedance systems. The included tile bridge and conduit plate simplify code-compliant installations in plenum and non-plenum ceilings.
The CM890i is suited to foreground music, sound reinforcement, and paging applications where high output and uniform coverage are required. Typical deployments include retail areas, auditoriums, houses of worship, and transit hubs. The BroadBeamHP waveguide and compression driver combination maintain clarity when operating at high levels in these environments.
Installation is streamlined with a constant-tension fixed-wing mounting system that accommodates ceiling thicknesses from 6.4 mm to 48.5 mm. The steel grille is magnetic and tool-free for easy painting and servicing, and the cast-aluminum motor-board improves thermal dispersion for long-term reliability. UL 1480 and UL 2043 approvals support use in commercial and plenum applications.
