Description
The CM890i is an 8-inch coaxial in-ceiling speaker designed for high-output foreground music, sound reinforcement and paging applications. It combines a treated fiber low-frequency driver with a titanium compression high-frequency transducer to produce clear speech and extended musical detail. The product supports both low-impedance 8 ohm and distributed constant-voltage systems.
The speaker uses Soundtube BroadBeamHP waveguide technology to maintain consistent dispersion and intelligibility across the listening area. A six-position tap selector with a 66-watt transformer covers 25V, 70.7V and 100V systems plus a transformer bypass for 8 ohm operation. The cast-aluminum baffle and compression driver assembly provide thermal dissipation for sustained high SPL operation.
Performance specifications include a frequency response of 80Hz to 22kHz (-3 dB), sensitivity of 93.0 dB (2.83V/1m), and a maximum SPL of 114.0 dB at 1 m. Power handling is rated at 125 W RMS continuous and 250 W program. Coverage is broad and controlled – averaged directivity yields approximately 105 degrees from 2 to 10 kHz.
Connectivity is via a removable four-pin 5.08 mm Euroblock that supports individual or daisy-chain wiring. The six-position rotary tap switch is easily accessed for field configuration of distributed audio systems. The unit is available in white or black finishes and the grille is magnetic and tool-free for quick access or painting.

Installation features include a constant-tension fixed-wing mounting system for ceiling thicknesses from 6.4 mm to 48.5 mm and an included tile bridge and conduit plate. The steel grille with powder-coat finish and integrated safety cable simplifies on-site finish work and maintenance. The CM890i is UL 1480 and 2043 approved which supports compliance in many commercial installations.
