Description
The CP-AOCU32/AC-164 is a hybrid optical and copper USB 3.2 Gen 2 A-to-C cable designed to carry SuperSpeed+ data at up to 10Gbps over long distances. It pairs a 2-channel OM2 850 nm VCSEL fiber array with copper conductors to extend USB connectivity beyond typical copper limits. This cable is intended for data transfer applications and is not for charging or Alternate Mode video signals.
Key features include USB 3.2 Gen 2 throughput up to 10Gbps, plug-and-play operation with no additional drivers required, and backward compatibility with USB 1.1, 2.0, and 3.0. The hybrid construction provides greater distance capability while preserving signal integrity for high-bandwidth devices. The cable draws power from the USB source and requires remote devices to be self-powered when necessary.
Technically, the cable uses a 2 channel OM2 850 nm VCSEL array combined with bare copper conductors to balance distance and power. It supports a maximum data rate of 10 Gbps when paired with USB 3.2 hosts and devices. The cable consumes <=0.5W and includes mechanical ratings such as long term crush resistance 100N/100mm and short term tensile strength 300N.
Connectivity is provided by a USB 3.2 type-A male connector on one end and a USB 3.2 type-C male connector on the other. The cable is compatible with a range of USB peripherals including cameras, webcams, printers, and speakerphones when those devices support USB data. Note that the cable does not support charging functionality or Alternate Mode video transmission.
Typical use cases include extending USB camera links in conference rooms, connecting remote USB peripherals in AV racks, and linking USB devices across long cable runs in production spaces. The product is suitable where reliable high-speed data transfer is required without power delivery or video pass-through. Its hybrid fiber/copper design reduces signal loss over the 164ft length while maintaining SuperSpeed+ bandwidth.
Installation is straightforward and requires no driver installation – just connect the USB-A host and USB-C device. The cable is built to withstand installation stresses with a 20mm minimum bend radius and robust crush and tensile ratings. It is rated for operating temperatures -20 to 50 C and storage temperatures -40 to 70 C and complies with CE, FCC, REACH, RoHS and CPR Eca flammability standards.
