Description
The CP-AOCU32/AC-66 is a hybrid USB 3.2 Gen 2 cable that combines optical fiber and copper conductors to deliver high-speed data between a USB-A host and a USB-C device. This cable supports SuperSpeed+ data rates up to 10Gbps when used with USB 3.2 hosts and devices – it is designed for reliable long-reach data links where electrical-only cables may be limited. Note that the cable is intended for data transfer only and does not provide charging or Alternate Mode video signaling.
Key features include USB 3.2 Gen 2 protocol support, hybrid construction using OM2 multimode fiber and bare copper conductors, and rugged mechanical ratings for crush and tensile resistance. The cable provides backward compatibility with USB 3.0, 2.0 and USB 1.1 at reduced distances, and draws the small amount of power required from the USB source device. The hybrid optical/copper design reduces signal loss over distance while maintaining USB protocol timing and integrity.
Technical performance is centered on a maximum data rate of 10 Gbps and a two-channel OM2 850 nm VCSEL fiber array for the optical path. Physical durability metrics include short-term tensile strength of 300 N, long-term tensile strength of 150 N, short-term crush resistance of 500 N per 100 mm and long-term crush resistance of 100 N per 100 mm. The cable has a minimum bending radius of 20 mm and a jacket diameter of 4.8 mm to support routing in constrained spaces.
Connectivity uses a USB 3.2 Type-A male connector on one end and a USB 3.2 Type-C male connector on the other end, enabling direct host-to-device links such as PCs to cameras or speakerphones. The cable requires that remote devices be self-powered where necessary, and the internal copper conductors supply low consumption power up to 0.5 W for any required control electronics. Backward compatibility supports legacy USB devices subject to distance limitations for USB 1.1.
Practical applications include connecting USB cameras, webcams, printers, conferencing speakerphones and other USB peripherals where long cable runs are needed without signal degradation. The hybrid optical/copper construction is particularly effective in environments where electrical interference is a concern or where long reach exceeds the capability of pure copper USB cables. Installers will find the cable useful in AV integrations, broadcast setups, and conferencing systems requiring reliable USB data transport.
Installation is plug-and-play with no additional drivers required and no external power supply needed beyond the USB source device. The cable is built to industry safety and environmental standards including CE and FCC, with CPR Eca flammability rating and REACH and RoHS compliance. Rugged mechanical ratings and a slim 4.8 mm jacket make routing and handling straightforward while maintaining long-term reliability.
