Description
The CP-AOCU32/AC-98 is an optical hybrid USB 3.2 Gen-2 cable that delivers high-speed data between USB-A hosts and USB-C devices. It provides up to 10Gbps throughput when connected to compatible USB 3.2 equipment. This cable is designed for data transfer only – it does not support charging or USB Alt Mode signaling.
Key features include an optical fiber and copper hybrid construction that preserves signal integrity over extended runs. The cable supports USB 3.2 Gen-2 SuperSpeed+ rates and maintains backward compatibility with earlier USB standards. It is plug-and-play and does not require additional drivers to operate.
Performance characteristics include a maximum data rate of 10 Gbps and USB backward compatibility with USB 3.0, 2.0, and USB 1.1 (USB 1.1 supported up to 50ft). Power for connected devices is drawn from the USB source device, and remote devices are requested to be self-powered when possible. Power consumption of the cable electronics is low at <=0.5W.
Connectivity is provided by a USB 3.2 Type-A male connector on one end and a USB 3.2 Type-C male connector on the other end. The cable uses a 2-channel OM2 850 nm VCSEL fiber array combined with bare copper conductors. Note that the cable supports data only and does not deliver charging current or Alt Mode video paths.
Typical applications include connecting USB cameras, webcams, printers, speakerphones, and other USB peripherals where extended reach and reliable data rates are required. The cable is suitable for pro AV setups, conferencing systems, and studio environments where a stable, low-latency data link is needed. It is not intended to replace power-specific cables or active charging solutions.
Installation is straightforward – the cable is plug-and-play and requires no external power. The physical design provides long-term and short-term crush resistance, defined tensile strengths, and a 20mm minimum bending radius to aid routing in racks and under desks. The cable is rated to operate in temperatures from -20 to 50 C and is CE and FCC compliant with CPR Eca flammability rating and REACH and RoHS environmental compliance.
