Description
The D-RLC3 is a remote level controller designed to provide four preset audio levels to compatible RDL control modules that accept a 0 to 10 Vdc resistive control. It supplies four momentary pushbuttons corresponding to HIGH, NORM, LOW and MIN levels and provides green LED indication for status. The unit is intended to operate from the same 24 Vdc ground-referenced supply as the target VCA module.
The D-RLC3 offers installer-adjustable preset levels using concealed trimpots to set NORM, LOW and MIN ranges while HIGH presents a fixed 10 kOhm, 0 dB condition. The front panel presents a professional appearance and robust pushbutton switching for reliable user operation. LED indication confirms active selection and helps reduce user confusion in multi-zone installations.
Technically, the controller directly presents selectable resistances to ground on the CTRL terminal in four steps to drive RDL VCAs that accept a 0 to 10 Vdc resistive center. The HIGH position is fixed at 10 kOhm for maximum gain while the other presets are adjustable over specified dB ranges. The unit operates across an ambient range of 0 C to 50 C and is powered by a ground-referenced 24 Vdc supply.
Connectivity is handled via a detachable terminal block for easy field wiring and service. The D-RLC3 mounts in a standard US electrical box and is compatible with RDL WB and SMB series boxes; a cover plate is available separately. It interfaces directly with modules such as ST-VCA3 and RU-VCA2A that use a 10 kOhm resistive control input.
Common applications include zone level control in commercial audio systems, remote preset selection in presentation environments, and user-accessible level control in conference rooms. The hidden trimpot adjustments allow system integrators to lock preset levels after commissioning to prevent user tampering. The simple four-button layout supports quick operator selection between defined operating levels including an off-like MIN setting.
Installation is straightforward – the unit is wired to the VCA and shares the VCA power supply so no separate supply is required. Installer adjustments are concealed on the sides of the unit after commissioning to maintain a clean user interface. The D-RLC3 combines uncomplicated wiring, straightforward adjustment and a professional appearance for consistent long-term operation.
