Description
The D-TPR3A is an active three-pair Format-A twisted-pair audio receiver designed to convert Format-A signals to balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA outputs. It accepts signals on all three Format-A pairs and provides a selectable balanced XLR output plus two unbalanced RCA outputs for left and right channels. The unit supports remote powering over the twisted pair or local 24 Vdc input and includes an LED power indicator.
Key features include a switch-selectable XLR output that can be set to mic or line level and two buffered RCA phono outputs at standard -10 dBV consumer level. The D-TPR3A uses precision active balanced circuitry to maintain low noise and high common-mode rejection when fed over twisted-pair cable. The receiver is built to mount in Decora-style wall boxes or standard U.S. electrical boxes for discreet installation.
Performance specifications include a frequency response from 10 Hz to 50 kHz (± 0.1 dB), THD+N below 0.005%, and crosstalk better than 90 dB at 1 kHz. Headroom above +4 dBu exceeds 18 dB and noise below -4 dBu is better than -90 dB. The design provides greater than 80 dB CMRR across the critical low-frequency band to minimize hum and interference.
Connectivity is provided via an RJ45 Format-A input and an XLR balanced output plus two RCA phono outputs for stereo consumer-level connections. Power can be supplied locally through a detachable terminal block or remotely via the same Format-A twisted-pair cable from an upstream power inserter or other module. The D-TPR3A will bridge signals so up to 10 receivers can be connected to each Format-A pair for distributed audio access.
Typical applications include remote mic or line-level drop conversions to local mixers, recorders, or consumer audio equipment, distribution of audio to multiple locations in commercial buildings, and integration with wall-mounted control or remote modules. The compact Decora-style front panel and selectable output level simplify integration into installed audio systems. The module’s low distortion and excellent hum rejection make it appropriate for both pro-audio and commercial AV installations.
Installation is straightforward: mount in standard U.S. electrical or RDL WB-style wall boxes, connect the RJ45 Format-A feed, set the XLR output level via the rear-panel switch, and apply 24 Vdc power locally or allow remote powering over the cable. The unit’s fused local power output feeds downstream modules and the front-panel LED confirms power presence. Construction and connector choices are optimized for reliable long-term field use and repeatable audio performance.
