Description
The D-TPS6A is a passive single-pair audio transmitter designed to send consumer line-level signals over RDL Format-A twisted-pair cabling. It accepts stereo unbalanced sources on dual RCA jacks and converts them to a single mono feed for transmission. The module provides galvanic isolation via a studio-quality transformer to protect source equipment and maintain audio integrity.
Key features include switch-selectable output pair selection (A, B or C) and a front-panel pair of gold-plated RCA jacks for stereo inputs. The unit sums stereo to mono and routes the combined signal to the selected RJ45 pair. The passive design requires no local power while allowing any cable-supplied power to pass through to chained modules.
Performance is tailored to professional audio needs with a frequency response of 20 Hz to 20 kHz (±0.5 dB) and extremely low distortion – typically <0.001% at 1 kHz and <0.1% across 50 Hz to 20 kHz. Input sensitivity is set for consumer line levels at -10 dBV with a maximum of +22 dBu. The compact housing measures 1.6 in W x 4.11 in H x 1.89 in D to fit rack panels or equipment racks with minimal footprint.
Connectivity is provided via one RJ45 TP CABLE jack for Format-A output and a second RJ45 TP CABLE jack for signal and power pass-through. The rear-panel switch selects which TP pair is driven, allowing flexible assignment when chaining multiple senders. Multiple single-pair senders may be daisy-chained provided each feeds a different pair (A, B or C).
Typical applications include patching consumer line sources into Format-A distribution systems, feeding background music or program audio to remote zones, and integrating consumer electronics into broadcast or installed-audio infrastructures. The transformer isolation and passive topology make it suitable for mixing consumer-level sources into professional signal paths. The unit is compact yet robust for use in equipment racks, rackside shelves, or field carts.
Installation is straightforward – connect the stereo source to the dual RCA jacks, set the rear switch to the desired pair, and plug the RJ45 cable into the Format-A system. No external power is required, simplifying deployment and reducing cabling. The D-TPS6A is built with studio-grade components and solid construction to deliver reliable long-term operation in professional AV environments.
