Description
The DS-RCX2 is a Decora-style wall control designed to provide simple source selection and volume adjustment in individual rooms. It provides pushbutton selection between MUSIC and LOCAL sources and an optical rotary encoder for precise volume control. The unit mounts in an RDL WB-1U wall box and fits standard Decora openings.
Key features include long-life pushbuttons for source selection and an optical rotary encoder with an LED virtual pointer that indicates the current level. The encoder provides tactile volume adjustment while the LED pointer gives an easy visual reference of the setting. One or two RCX2 units may be installed in the same room to provide multi-location control.
On the audio side, the DS-RCX2 is intended to work with RCX room combiners and typical microphone or line-level local inputs. The pushbutton selects between MUSIC and LOCAL inputs or combines them as required by the connected combiner. The encoder directly controls the room level as defined by the RCX system.
Connectivity is simple and fitting-focused – the DS-RCX2 mounts into an RDL WB-1U wall box and connects to the RCX system wiring within the enclosure. The panel and rear enclosure are all steel for durable installation and a consistent Decora appearance. LED feedback and long-life switches reduce maintenance requirements in installed systems.
The DS-RCX2 is suitable for classrooms, meeting rooms, houses of worship, and other distributed audio zones where localized source selection and level control are needed. It is typically paired with the RCX-5C room combiner or similar RDL control systems to manage music feeding and local microphone or line inputs. Multiple units can be used to give occupants control from different room locations.
Installation is straightforward for AV technicians familiar with Decora wall-mount devices and RDL wall boxes. The all-steel construction and standard mounting format simplify replacement and upgrades in existing installations. The DS-RCX2 focuses on reliable tactile controls, clear LED level indication, and compatibility with established RCX room combiner architectures.
