The DS-SFRC8 Room Control Station is an in-wall SourceFlex listening station that provides front-panel source selection and volume control for a single room. It supports selection from up to eight audio sources and displays the selected source on a seven-segment LED. The unit includes balanced and unbalanced line outputs plus an integrated speaker amplifier for local listening.
Key features include a momentary source select button, a numeric LED display that indicates source number or paging, and a single-turn front-panel volume control. The rear-panel switch allows the balanced line output to be fixed at +4 dBu or to follow the front-panel volume control. The unbalanced output is nominally 12 dB below the balanced output.
Performance is optimized using a high-efficiency Class D amplifier stage that delivers up to 3.5 W RMS into 8 ohms or 6.5 W RMS into 4 ohms. Frequency response is maintained at 20 Hz to 20 kHz for line-level outputs and 40 Hz to 20 kHz for the speaker output. Distortion and noise figures are low to preserve clarity: THD+N is under 0.1% at line level and noise is better than -85 dB at line level.
Connectivity is through a rear-panel detachable 10-position terminal block that carries input selection, control conductors and speaker connections. The unit is powered from the SourceFlex controller and requires 24 Vdc with varying current draw depending on output level. Mounting is designed for a standard US single-gang electrical box or RDL WB-1U wall box using the supplied detachable terminal block for easy wiring during installation.
The DS-SFRC8 is suitable for office distributed audio systems that require background music and paging integration. It supports local speaker output plus balanced/unbalanced line outputs to feed external amplifiers, making it appropriate for mixed deployments. The numeric display and simple pushbutton selection make source changes and paging status easy for end users.
Installation is straightforward and geared toward integrators and electricians: set the rear switch for fixed or variable line output, wire the 10-position terminal block, and mount the unit in a single-gang box. The Class D output stage produces minimal heat and includes thermal and short-circuit protection for reliable long-term operation. The compact in-wall form factor and compatibility with other RDL wall plates simplify system design and serviceability.
