The EX-80-KVM is an HDMI and KVM extender designed to transmit full HD video and USB HID signals over a single CAT5e/6 link. It delivers 1080p@60Hz video up to 80m (262ft) and extends keyboard and mouse control to a remote host. The unit is intended for installations that require remote PC access with minimal latency and simple deployment.
Key features include USB 2.0 passthrough supporting up to 480Mbps, HID support to the full 80m distance, and bidirectional Power over Cable (PoC) allowing a single power adapter to energize either end. The extender supports HDMI 1.3 and HDCP 1.4 to maintain content protection. A compact chassis keeps the device discreet in AV racks and under desks.
Performance highlights include an encoding data rate of 6.75Gbps and end-to-end latency of approximately 10us, ensuring responsive control and smooth video playback. Audio support covers 2-channel PCM and multichannel formats up to DTS-X and Dolby Atmos where the source supports them. The maximum pixel clock is 225MHz and color modes include DCI and RGB.
Connectivity includes a TX HDMI input (19-pin Type A), USB Type B host port, RJ-45 UTP ports for the CAT5e/6 link, and RX HDMI output plus dual USB Type A device ports. The USB link supports full-speed USB 2.0 up to 480Mbps over Cat6 to 60m (197ft) and HID operation to 80m (263ft). EDID management is supported and DVI-D displays are compatible via adapter.
This extender is well suited to conference rooms, office workstations, classrooms, and presentation environments where remote access to a central PC is required. It is commonly used to relocate a host PC from a public space to a secure equipment room while preserving interactive control at the remote endpoint. The unit also works in collaborative AV settings that require remote webcams or USB peripherals over the same link.
Installation is plug-and-play and requires minimal configuration, reducing deployment time on site. Bidirectional PoC simplifies power provisioning and reduces cable clutter by allowing a single adapter to power the TX or RX. The compact build and industry compliance make the EX-80-KVM a practical choice for integrators seeking predictable performance and straightforward setup.
