Description
The DVI ELR Lite Extender kit extends a DVI source to a remote display using a single CAT5e or CAT6A cable – enabling long-distance digital video transmission without fiber or multiple coax runs. It supports resolutions up to 1920 x 1200 (WUXGA) and is HDCP compliant to maintain protected-content compatibility. The kit includes sender and receiver units plus locking power supplies for secure installation.
The extender uses Gefen’s ELR Lite implementation of HDBaseT Lite technology to transmit DVI signals up to 230 ft (70 m) over CAT-6A or 200 ft (60 m) over CAT-5e. It supports EDID management to help sources and displays negotiate the correct resolution quickly. Status LEDs indicate power and link state for straightforward troubleshooting.
Performance is tuned for computer and presentation video with a maximum pixel clock of 165 MHz and support for WUXGA resolution. The system is HDCP compliant to pass protected content when required and includes DIP-switch selectors for EDID, HPD pass-through, and HDCP pass-through. Power consumption is modest at up to 10 W per unit and both units use locking 5 V DC power supplies.
Connectivity is simple: DVI-I digital input and output connectors on the sender and receiver respectively, and an RJ-45 link connector between units. The sender provides DIP switches for local EDID and pass-through configuration and both units include power and link LEDs. The units are surface-mountable to fit tight equipment racks or wall installations.
Typical applications include digital signage, conference room displays, classrooms, and kiosk installations where a DVI source must be located remotely from the display. The extender is suitable when the required run is within 200 ft to 230 ft and full HDCP compatibility and WUXGA resolution are needed. It reduces cabling complexity by carrying the signal over a single twisted-pair cable.
Installation is straightforward: connect the DVI source to the sender and the display to the receiver, link the units with a single CAT-5e or CAT-6A cable, and apply the locking 5 V DC power supplies. DIP switches allow quick EDID and pass-through adjustments without additional tools. The compact, surface-mountable metal housings provide a reliable, low-profile fit in professional AV deployments.
