Description
The FC-6 is a compact networked control gateway that provides bidirectional RS-232 and IR emitter control for AV devices. It connects to a customer Ethernet LAN for remote IP-based management and supports multiple simultaneous control clients. The unit is designed for discreet installation and can be powered via USB or an optional PSU.
The device features two multi-IO ports that are selectable as either two bidirectional RS-232 ports or four IR outputs, enabling control of displays, scalers, audio amplifiers and media players. It supports transparent RS-232 communication up to 115200bps and a range of serial baud rates for integration with legacy equipment. Up to 40 IP clients can connect concurrently to control attached devices over the LAN.
Technical capabilities include IR input frequency support from 20kHz to 60kHz and IR output support from 20kHz to 1.2MHz, with IR emitter cable runs up to 80m. The device handles up to 150kbps summed across all ports and supports remote firmware upgrades via LAN. Power consumption is specified at 5V DC, 300mA.
Connectivity includes two 3-pin terminal block multi-IO ports, one RJ-45 Ethernet port, one mini USB for local services and firmware, and a built-in IR sensor for IR learning. The unit offers DHCP address resolution and auto device discovery for plug-and-play deployment on customer networks. Web browser management and Windows virtual port software enable easy configuration and remote device management.
Typical applications include distributed AV control in meeting rooms, lecture halls, digital signage and control closets where remote serial or IR control is required. The FC-6 supports common AV workflows by enabling centralized IP control of displays, scalers and AV sources. Multiple control clients can operate concurrently, supporting collaborative or multi-operator environments.
Installation is simplified by the compact aluminium enclosure and piggy-back mounting options that allow placement behind displays. The unit uses convection cooling and complies with RoHS and WEEE requirements. USB power makes it convenient to deploy where a 5V source is available, and an optional PS-504 power adapter is available where dedicated power is preferred.
