Description
FiDO-2T-12G is a compact 2-channel transmitter that converts 12G/6G/3G/HD/SD-SDI signals to single-mode LC fiber. It supports cable runs up to 10 km (32,808 ft) over standard single-mode fiber. The unit is designed for installations that require reliable long-distance SDI transport with minimal rack space.
The transmitter provides two independent 12G-SDI inputs that also support 6G/3G/HD/SD-SDI and offers two simplex or one duplex LC connections. Both SDI-to-fiber paths are completely independent to keep signals isolated and simplify routing. The design includes a locking power connector and an optional P-TAP power option for battery use in remote locations.
FiDO-2T-12G supports video rates from 270 Mbps up to 12 Gbps and auto-selects common SDI clock rates for reclocking where applicable. Optical transmitter characteristics include nominal wavelengths and specified optical power and extinction ratio to meet SMPTE fiber transport requirements. Power draw is low at a maximum of 3.5 watts and the unit accepts 5-20 VDC power.
Connectivity includes two independent 12G-SDI BNC inputs and two single-mode LC fiber outputs. The product conforms to SMPTE standards for SDI and fiber interfaces for broad compatibility across cameras, switchers, routers and transmit/receive systems. Reclocking is provided for standard SDI rates while other rates are passed through.
Typical applications include camera-to-truck links, long-run contributions between studios and edit suites, OB trucks, and point-to-point links in live event production. The small footprint makes it suitable for mounting behind monitors, on camera rigs, or in tight rack spaces. Its low power consumption and optional battery support simplify remote deployments.
