Description
The FP-MP1 is a compact studio-quality microphone preamplifier designed to provide low-noise gain and reliable phantom power control. It employs discrete low-noise circuitry to preserve microphone signal integrity across a wide range of source levels. The unit is built for rack or remote installations where clean, adjustable gain is required.
Key features include switchable internal phantom voltage selectable between 12 V and 24 V, selectable input gain ranges up to 65 dB, and a switchable low-cut filter at 80 Hz. The front panel provides a 3-position phantom selector and a gain-range selector to accommodate standard and high-output microphones. Dual-LED VU metering gives immediate visual feedback of output level and clipping.
Technically, the FP-MP1 offers an input impedance of 3 kOhm balanced, frequency response from 20 Hz to 20 kHz within ±0.2 dB, and headroom of 20 dB above +4 dBu. THD plus noise is specified at less than 0.1% at +4 dBu across gain settings and IMD is less than 0.1%. Equivalent input noise and gain/noise figures deliver studio-grade low-noise performance for critical mic preamplification.
Connectivity covers XLR female input and XLR male output plus 5-position plug-in terminal block input and output for hardwired installations. The front-panel switches and compact all-metal FLAT-PAK form factor make the unit compatible with standard microphone cables and installations in both racks and remote boxes. The unit meets IEC 61938:2013 buildout standard and provides common-mode rejection greater than 60 dB.
The FP-MP1 is ideal for broadcast booths, local studios, mobile rigs, and live sound reinforcement where controlled phantom voltage and selectable gain are required. It supports low-cut filtering to manage proximity effect and low-frequency noise, and its adjustable gain ranges suit a wide variety of condenser and dynamic microphones. The unit’s visual metering and headroom ensure reliable level control during program capture.
Installation is straightforward – the FLAT-PAK metal chassis mounts in a rack or can be used as a remote module with terminal block wiring. Power is ground-referenced 24 Vdc at 100 mA, and the ambient operating range of 0 C to 50 C accommodates typical studio and field environments. The FP-MP1 combines small footprint construction with professional features to deliver consistent mic preamplification in demanding AV workflows.
