Description
The FP-VDA4 is a compact 1×4 video distribution amplifier designed to deliver a single composite video source to multiple monitors or recorders. It accepts a BNC video input and provides four amplified BNC outputs plus a loop-through jack for signal chaining. The unit supports both NTSC and PAL formats and is built for continuous use in installed AV and broadcast environments.
Key features include four source-terminated outputs, a loop-out jack for source monitoring, and a top-panel gain control that lets the user set output level from unity to +6 dB. The FP-VDA4 maintains flat response across the video band up to 10 MHz, preserving signal integrity for standard-definition sources. The compact all-metal housing fits into tight equipment racks or shelf mounts where space is limited.
Technically, the amplifier provides an output level of 1 V p-p into 75 O loads and a frequency response of 10 Hz to 10 MHz with ±0.2 dB flatness. Noise is specified at less than -75 dB below 1 V p-p and output isolation exceeds 45 dB to minimize crosstalk between outputs. Differential gain is 0.1% and differential phase is 0.1 degree as measured at 10% and 90% APL, meeting demands for stable video performance.
Connectivity is handled through top-panel BNC connectors for input, loop-out, and four amplified outputs, with the input stage offering a separate loop-out jack for source distribution. A 75 O terminator is provided and plugs onto the LOOP OUT jack when input termination is required. Power may be connected via the full-size barrier block terminals or a single-ended 24 Vdc power jack, and a second DC jack is provided for chaining additional modules.
The FP-VDA4 is suited to monitoring and distribution tasks in small studios, control rooms, security monitoring stations, and AV racks. Typical uses include splitting a camera feed to multiple displays, feeding recorders while maintaining a live monitor, and distributing composite video to remote endpoints in a building. Its NTSC/PAL compatibility simplifies mixed-format environments and field installs.
Installation is straightforward thanks to top-accessible connectors and a front-located gain pot for quick level trimming. The unit’s all-metal construction and compact footprint provide durability and easy integration into existing FLAT-PAK module systems. Overall, the FP-VDA4 offers a practical, technically capable solution for standard-definition video distribution needs.
