Download Manual The HA5-12G-T-ST converts HDMI 2.0 inputs to single-link 12G-SDI signals and adds an integrated ST fiber transmitter to extend 4K/UltraHD video over long distances. It accepts HDMI 2.0b sources up to 4K60 in 4:4:4/4:2:2/4:2:0 color formats and provides two 12G-SDI mirrored outputs for downstream devices. The unit ships with a FiberST-1T-12G SFP installed so fiber connectivity is available out of the box.
Key features include HDMI EDID emulation, HDR infoframe analysis and decoding, Two Sample Interleave mapping support for 4K/UHD sources, and selectable embedded audio from HDMI or two-channel analog RCA inputs. The HA5-12G-T-ST supports up to eight channels of 24-bit embedded HDMI audio and can embed two-channel analog audio into SDI. An LED lock indicator displays detected signal types by color for quick status checks.
Performance supports a broad set of formats including 4096×2160 and 3840×2160 up to 60p, 2048×1080 and 1920×1080 up to 60p, and SD/HD legacy formats. The converter provides 12G-SDI BNC output and a 12G-SDI ST fiber output compliant with SMPTE standards and includes cable equalization values for common coaxial runs. Power is via the included universal 5-16 VDC adapter and the unit consumes approximately 11-12 watts during normal operation.
Connectivity options include 1x HDMI Type A input, 1x 12G-SDI BNC output, a mirrored 12G-SDI DA output, 1x 12G-SDI Fiber ST connector, 2x RCA analog audio inputs, and a USB port for Mini-Config control and firmware updates. The SFP module shipped with the unit is FiberST-1T-12G enabling singlemode fiber transmission up to 10 km. USB Mini-Config provides device status, HDR infoframe analysis, and configuration via Mac or Windows.
Typical applications include live production feeds, broadcast ingest, monitor conversions, and long-distance fiber transport for 4K60 content. The HA5-12G-T-ST is well suited for OB vans, studio signal distribution, and any workflow requiring HDMI to SDI conversion with fiber extension. It supports DSLR progressive SD inputs for easier integration of varied camera sources into SDI workflows.
Installation is straightforward – the compact aluminum enclosure fits behind displays or on camera rigs and includes a locking power connector to prevent accidental disconnection. Convection cooling and a recommendation to allow airflow ensure reliable operation; do not stack multiple Mini-Converters directly.
