Description
The HI5-12G-R-ST is a compact SDI to HDMI converter designed to deliver accurate 4K/UltraHD monitoring and conversion. It accepts single-link 12G-SDI signals and outputs HDMI 2.0 video up to 4K60 while preserving color depth and timing. The unit includes a Fiber ST SFP receiver to extend SDI sources over long distances.
Key capabilities include single-link 12G-SDI input, a reclocked SDI loop out for confidence monitoring, and HDMI 2.0 output that supports HDR10 metadata and HLG. The converter handles 4:4:4 and 4:2:2 color formats at 8, 10 and 12-bit depths and supports high frame rates up to 60p. Analog RCA outputs provide local audio monitoring while HDMI carries up to 8 channels of embedded audio.
Performance specifications cover a broad set of video formats from SD to 4K/4096×2160 at multiple frame rates including 50 and 59.94/60 fps. The fiber receiver meets SMPTE fiber standards and provides optical sensitivity and overload thresholds suitable for professional links. The unit consumes approximately 11 to 12 watts and ships with a universal 100-240VAC adapter supporting 5-16 VDC input.
Connectivity includes a single 12G-SDI input, reclocked SDI loop out, a Fiber ST SFP receiver input, and an HDMI Type A v2.0b output. Control and status are available via USB and AJA Mini-Config software for Mac and Windows. Automatic DVI fallback is supported when a connected monitor does not speak full HDMI protocol.
Typical use cases include on-set monitoring, OB vans, post production monitoring, and any professional workflow requiring conversion from SDI or fiber to HDMI displays. The Hi5-12G-R-ST simplifies integration of modern HDMI displays into SDI-centric signal chains while maintaining HDR and high frame rate integrity. It is suitable where reliable color reproduction and low-latency monitoring are required.
The converter is built in AJA Mini-Converter form factor for flexible placement behind monitors or on camera rigs and features a locking DC power connector to prevent accidental disconnection. Firmware updates and device configuration are managed through the Mini-Config application via USB. A five year warranty provides long-term support for professional deployments.
