Description
The HP890i is an 8 in coaxial open-ceiling speaker designed for high-output distributed audio and 8 ohm systems. It combines a treated-fiber 8 in woofer and a 36 mm compression driver mounted on a cast-aluminum baffle for improved heat dissipation. The enclosure is ported to extend low-frequency response and deliver clear midrange and highs.
Key features include the patented BroadBeamHP waveguide for consistent dispersion and improved intelligibility across the coverage area. The speaker integrates a 120 watt multi-tap transformer with a five-position rotary tap selector and a transformer bypass position. Weatherized components and a steel powder-coated grille make the HP890i suitable for indoor and protected outdoor installations.
Performance highlights include an average sensitivity of 94.0 dB, a frequency response of 93 Hz – 22 kHz (-3 dB) and 65 Hz – 22 kHz (-10 dB), and a high output rating suitable for sound reinforcement and PA use. The system provides a maximum program power of 250 W and very high maximum SPL for foreground music and voice applications. Coverage is optimized at 115 degrees averaged 2-10 kHz to maintain even coverage and intelligibility.
Connectivity is provided via a four-pin 5.08 mm Euroblock for individual input or daisy-chain connections and the selectable transformer taps support 25 V, 70.7 V and 100 V lines plus low-impedance bypass. The unit ships with hanging hardware that includes galvanized steel cables and an integrated SpeedClamp self-locking wire grip for secure mounting. A terminal weather boot is included for outdoor or exposed installations.
The HP890i is intended for foreground music, voice reinforcement, and PA applications where high output and consistent coverage are required. It is suitable for retail, hospitality, houses of worship, and outdoor covered environments when weatherized deployment is needed. The BroadBeamHP waveguide and high sensitivity reduce amplifier requirements while improving coverage uniformity.
Installation is straightforward thanks to included hanging hardware and the SpeedClamp fast-action grip that secures the speaker without special tools. The injection-molded glass-fiber reinforced ABS enclosure and cast-aluminum motorboard provide structural rigidity and thermal management. UL 1480 and 2239 approvals support compliant installations and ensure adherence to industry safety standards.
