Description
The HR-DSX4 is a 4×1 digital audio selector engineered for professional audio environments. It provides solid-state source selection and signal reclocking to preserve digital audio integrity. The unit supports industry-standard AES/EBU and S/PDIF formats and extended sample rates up to 192 kHz.
Inputs are available on AES/EBU XLR, S/PDIF coaxial and S/PDIF optical jacks, and the rear-panel selector provides AES/EBU, S/PDIF coaxial or S/PDIF optical output. The HR-DSX4 performs any required electrical and data-format conversion automatically when an output format is selected. RDL Sure-Lok auto-recovery supervision monitors and reinitiates signal lock to maintain continuous operation under adverse conditions.
Technically the HR-DSX4 operates from 16 to 24 bits and supports sample rates from 32 kHz to 192 kHz. AES/EBU I/O are 110 Ohm transformer isolated circuits and coaxial S/PDIF and AES-3ID use 75 Ohm phono jacks. The design includes signal reclocking to reduce jitter and improve downstream performance while complying with AES 3-2003 and IEC60958 standards.
The front panel includes four keyboard-style source select pushbuttons with status LEDs and a POWER LED. A LOCAL/REMOTE switch enables front-panel control or remote switching via rear-panel detachable terminal blocks that accept momentary or continuous closures. When a source is selected the unit provides a 50 mA open-collector output to control external devices.
The HR-DSX4 is well suited to broadcast facilities, production suites, live sound rigs and post production workflows where reliable digital source selection and format conversion are required. It allows engineers to centralize digital source switching while maintaining sample-rate and bit-depth fidelity. The Sure-Lok auto-recovery feature reduces maintenance and downtime in mission-critical installations.
Installation is straightforward with 24 Vdc power input available via a dc jack or detachable terminal block and a front-panel power switch for local control. The compact chassis and clear front-panel indicators simplify rack or shelf mounting and system integration.
