Description
The KA8270 KVM over IP Console Station is a standalone Java-free console that replaces a local PC or notebook and provides remote access to multiple ATEN KVM over IP switches. It delivers secure remote monitoring and control while isolating the local environment from server networks to reduce virus risk. This console is designed for environments that require immediate access and strict security control.
The console features an advanced FPGA graphics processor that supports Full HD output at 1920 x 1200 @ 60 Hz and a single VGA HDB-15 video output. It supports USB keyboard and mouse plus two USB Type-A ports for Virtual Media functions. Panel Array Mode lets administrators preview up to 64 server video outputs on a single screen to streamline monitoring.
Technical specifications include a VGA HDB-15 video connector, RS-232 DB-9 control port, dual audio jacks, a RJ-45 LAN port, a cascade RJ-45, and a DC power jack. Power consumption is DC 5V: 4.66W (47.44 BTU) and the unit operates from 0 to 40 degrees C with 0-80 percent RH non-condensing humidity. The console measures 17.42 x 15.54 x 2.88 cm and weighs 0.75 kg.
Connectivity supports a single LAN connection for KVM over IP access plus a cascade port for chained deployments. The KA8270 is compatible with specific ATEN KVM over IP switches including KN1132V, KN2116VA, KN4116VA, KN2132VA, KN4132VA, KN4164V, KN8132V, KN8164V, KN2124VA, KN4124VA, KN2140VA, and KN4140VA. Note that the listed switches require firmware version 1.6.151 or above to support this console.
Common applications include data centers, broadcast stations, control rooms, network operations centers, studios, and manufacturing or surveillance facilities where simultaneous monitoring of many ports is needed. Panel Array Mode is especially useful in surveillance and manufacturing environments that require viewing multiple feeds at once. Single sign-on and consolidated management simplify administration across multiple switches.
The KA8270 offers flexible installation options including desk placement, wall mounting with the included kit, or rear 0U rack mounting to save space. The metal housing and dedicated power and reset buttons provide reliable operation and simple maintenance. A multi-language GUI enables straightforward device management and large deployment configuration.
