Description
The KA8288 is a standalone KVM over IP console station that replaces a PC or notebook to provide secure remote access and control of multiple ATEN KVM over IP switches. It delivers operator-grade remote management without Java, reducing endpoint attack vectors. The unit is designed for environments that require immediate access and strict security control.
Key features include dual HDMI outputs supporting 1920 x 1200 @ 60 Hz, an advanced FPGA graphics processor for Full HD rendering, and Virtual Media support via two USB ports. The console also offers Panel Array Mode – allowing administrators to preview up to 64 server video outputs on a single screen. Single sign-on capability simplifies consolidated management across multiple switches.
Performance highlights include dual HDMI female outputs, RS-232 DB-9 control, and a single RJ-45 LAN port for IP connectivity. The KA8288 operates from a DC 5V power input and consumes approximately 6.53W. The unit is built with a metal housing and measures 17.42 x 15.54 x 2.88 cm, weighing 1.76 lb.
Connectivity options cover USB Type-A ports for keyboard, mouse and two Virtual Media devices, an RJ-45 cascade port, two audio jacks, and a DB-9 RS-232 port for control integration. The console is compatible with a list of ATEN KVM over IP switches and requires firmware v1.6.151 or later on those switches to enable console station support. Network and peripheral interoperability are designed to integrate into existing AV and IT infrastructures.
Typical deployments include broadcast studios, data centers, control rooms, network operations centers, and studio environments where secure remote management is required. The Panel Array Mode and dual-display support make the KA8288 suitable for monitoring-intensive workflows and simultaneous multi-source operations. Its Java-free architecture reduces the risk of malware propagation compared with PC-based consoles.
Installation is flexible – the unit supports desk placement, wall mounting with the included kit, or 0U rear rack mounting to save space. The GUI provides multi-language device management and straightforward configuration for large deployments. The metal housing, simple push-button controls and a reset button ensure a robust and manageable console station solution.
