Description
The KD-VCS500 is a compact converter that converts VGA video and analog stereo audio into HDMI video and embedded audio. It is designed to bridge legacy PC or presentation sources to modern HDMI displays and projectors. The unit performs real-time conversion and offers selectable upscaling to 720p or 1080p.
Key features include analog audio embedding, EDID and HDCP transparency, and a simple resolution selection function. The converter accepts standard VGA resolutions and upscales them to a clean HDMI output. A dual-color LED indicates the active upscaled resolution for quick verification.
Internally the KD-VCS500 supports a wide list of VGA resolutions up to 1920×1080@60 and accepts a 3.5mm stereo audio input for embedding. DDC signaling is provided at 5 Volts p-p (TTL) and DDC communication supports EDID and HDCP bi-directional transparency. Power is supplied by an external 5V 1A adapter and the enclosure is molded black plastic for durability.
Connectivity includes one VGA input, one 3.5mm stereo audio input and one HDMI output. The HDMI output is fully HDMI and HDCP licensed for compatibility with compliant displays and sources. The unit preserves EDID handshake and HDCP information between display and source to ensure reliable operation.
Typical applications include converting legacy computer video for modern meeting rooms, embedding audio from analog sources for digital signage, and preparing VGA-only outputs for HDMI capture or presentation devices. The converter is suitable for classrooms, boardrooms, digital signage installations and AV carts. It provides a straightforward path for integrating older equipment into HDMI-based systems.
Installation is simple and requires connecting the VGA and audio sources, selecting the desired upscaled output via the resolution switch, and applying power. The small footprint and lightweight design make rack or furniture mounting unnecessary in most deployments. The KD-VCS500 offers a practical and dependable connectivity solution where VGA sources must be presented on HDMI displays.
