Description
The KD-WP8-3 is an eight-button wall-mounted control keypad designed for AV and control system installations. It mounts in a standard U.S. single-gang wall box and is powered over Ethernet to minimize wiring. The unit provides flexible local control of IP, RS-232 and IR devices.
Program the keypad using the built-in web GUI to assign button events like press, release, toggle, and press-and-hold. The keypad sends native TCP, UDP and Telnet commands in ASCII or HEX and can store up to eight integer variables for dynamic command strings. Up to 160 events are available across all buttons to support complex control sequences.
Technical performance includes PoE operation at under 4W, selectable RS-232 baud rates from 1,200 to 115,200 bps, and IR/RS-232 cable runs verified to 500ft at 115,200 baud. Button LED behavior and unit LED brightness are adjustable and programming supports press, release, hold-for-repeat and hold-for-send options. The device supports copy/paste IR formats such as Pronto, HEX and Compass Control bursts.
Connectivity includes a shielded RJ45 LAN port for IP control, a USB Micro port for local configuration, and a phoenix control connector for RS-232 and IR integration. KD-WP8-3 integrates with Key Digital Master Controllers to extend control to additional IR, RS-232 and relay devices, and it offers an open two-way API for third-party control system integration. A certified Q-SYS plugin is also available.
Typical applications include conference rooms, classrooms, digital signage control points and small meeting spaces where a simple, dedicated control surface is needed. The keypad supports password-protected virtual keypads and project import/export to streamline multi-room deployments. Two-button key combos can be assigned for lock and unlock security functions.
Installation is simplified by PoE power and a decora-style brushed-aluminum plate that fits standard wall boxes. The front panel supports customizable icon sheets and selectable blue or red backlighting to create a uniform user interface. Web GUI programming, KDMS Pro and KD-App support reduce commissioning time and allow centralized management across systems.
