Description
The KDS-100DEC is a 4K AVoIP decoder designed to render high-quality video streams over standard 1GbE networks. It accepts open-standard H.264 and H.265 streams and outputs pristine video to a local HDMI display. The decoder is engineered for low end-to-end latency and reliable network operation.
The unit supports dual streaming and predefined deployment profiles to adapt to high-capacity or constrained networks. It delivers approximately 40 ms end-to-end latency when paired with compatible KDS-100 encoders and supports primary and secondary stream selection. Security features include HTTPS/TLS, 802.1x authentication, and OWASP-10 aligned practices.
Performance specifications include maximum input/output resolution of 3840×2160 at 60Hz 4:4:4 and streaming up to 3840×2160 at 60Hz 4:2:2. Secondary stream capability provides 1920×1080 at 60Hz 4:2:2 for confidence monitoring or ingest. Bit rate ranges are configurable from 1 to 60 Mbps to manage bandwidth versus quality tradeoffs.
Connectivity is comprehensive with local HDMI input and HDMI output, balanced audio I/O on 5-pin terminal blocks, dual RS-232 ports for auxiliary data, dual USB-A for local HID devices, an RJ-45 1GbE media/control port with PoE+, and optional LC fiber (1000BASE-SX/LX). Control is available via embedded web pages, P3K API over Ethernet, front panel channel selection, and RS-232 commands.
Typical applications include operator workstations and control rooms where low latency and optional KVM support are required, campus and enterprise AV distribution over existing 1GbE infrastructure, and recording or confidence monitoring using the secondary stream. The decoder also suits classrooms, auditoriums, signage, and constrained network links where low bandwidth profiles are needed. Channel-based routing simplifies source selection by operators.
Installation is straightforward with PoE+ support or an optional 12V DC/5A power source and a compact metal chassis designed for desktop or rack mounting options. The device consumes 13.6W and operates between 0 and 45 C with non-condensing humidity tolerance. Front-panel LEDs and a recessed reset button simplify troubleshooting and maintenance.
