Description
The KDS-17DEC is a 4K60 4:4:4 AVoIP decoder designed to receive and render high-quality video and audio streams over Ethernet. It decodes Kramer proprietary visually lossless video and delivers HDMI output along with Dante and USB device interfaces. The unit supports multicast and unicast modes for flexible deployment.
The decoder supports Dante digital audio, LPCM, Dolby and DTS formats and streams up to 4K@60Hz 4:4:4. It includes HDMI I/O, balanced analog audio, RS-232, IR, CEC and a USB hub level interface for local USB devices. Built-in HDR10 handling, HDCP 1.4 and 2.3 support, and EDID passthrough ensure compatibility with a wide range of displays and audio devices.
Performance is tuned for large-scale installations with bandwidth efficiency and low-latency operation. Typical 4K average bitrate is 350Mbps with a peak of 850Mbps, and Dante provides 2 IN and 2 OUT mono channels. The decoder supports UDP multicast with IGMP snooping and Layer 2 switching requirements for predictable network behavior.
Connectivity options include an RJ-45 Ethernet port and an SFP slot for optical or copper transceivers, HDMI in and out on female HDMI connectors, dual USB-A device ports, a 5-pin balanced audio terminal, RS-232 terminal and a 3.5mm IR jack. Front panel LCD, LEDs and embedded web pages provide operational monitoring and control.
Typical applications include command and control rooms, corporate AV distribution, education campuses and venues requiring synchronized multi-display playback. The device enables centralized streaming to many displays and supports low-latency KVM requirements in situations where responsive control is essential. Its support for existing Ethernet infrastructure reduces cabling and switch complexity.
Installation is simplified through PoE+ support and an optional 20V DC power supply rated as an LPS or PS2 source. The aluminum enclosure uses convection ventilation for quiet operation and the compact form factor fits standard AV racks or shelf installations. Firmware management and P3K API control over Ethernet help integrators maintain and automate large deployments.
