Description
The Electro-Voice MFX-15MC-W is a passive 15 inch coaxial monitor speaker designed for stage monitoring and short-throw sound reinforcement. It combines a 15in low-frequency driver and a coaxially mounted 3in compression driver to deliver a coherent, phase-accurate acoustic output. The compact enclosure and low stage profile preserve sight lines while providing high output levels.
Key features include a rotatable 60 x 40 degree constant directivity horn, 500 W continuous power handling and a 3in compression driver mated to the 15in woofer. The coaxial alignment ensures time and phase coherence between low and high frequencies, improving imaging and consistency off-axis. A passive/bi-amp switch lets technicians choose between full-range passive operation or bi-amped setups.
Performance specifications deliver a frequency response of 52 Hz to 18 kHz (-3 dB) with a peak SPL of 136 dB measured at one meter on-axis using pink noise. Sensitivity is specified at 97 dB, and the cabinet uses a bass-reflex design to extend low-frequency output. Power handling is rated at 500 W RMS with 3500 W peak capability, providing headroom for dynamic live applications.
The MFX-15MC-W includes NL4 speakON input and thru connectors recessed into the rear panel to protect cabling and connectors. Nominal impedance is 8 ohms for passive operation, and LF/HF are 8 ohms when bi-amped. The rotatable horn and standard pole socket simplify integration into temporary PA stacks or fixed installs.
Typical use cases include stage wedge monitoring, front-fill and short-throw main PA duties in small venues, and rental house inventories where a low-profile monitor and a short-throw loudspeaker are both required. The speaker performs well in music, theater and corporate sound reinforcement situations that need clear vocal reproduction and defined low end. Its coaxial design maintains consistent tonality when performers move off-axis.
Construction uses Baltic birch plywood with EV Coat and a powder-coated steel grille for roadworthy durability. The cabinet includes side handles and accepts standard mounting accessories to support installation and transportation. Simple passive operation plus an option for bi-amping make the MFX-15MC-W straightforward to deploy and service in live environments.
