Description
The MH-8 is an eight-output stereo headphones amplifier designed to distribute individual headphone mixes across studio racks and live rigs. It provides eight separate stereo outputs, each delivering up to 250 mW per side into 32 Ohm loads. The unit is rack-mountable in 1U space and includes a built-in power supply for stable operation.
Each headphone channel can select from three switchable sources, enabling flexible monitoring configurations. Two shared stereo inputs can be assigned to any channel and each of the eight channels also has a dedicated direct balanced TRS input. Channel-level controls, signal presence LEDs and overload indicators give immediate visual and tactile control over each mix.
Audio performance is engineered for accuracy, with a phones frequency response rated at 20 Hz to 50 kHz +/-3 dB and foldback outputs extending to 10 Hz to 100 kHz +/-3 dB. Noise and distortion figures are low, with PHONES S/N at 85 dB(A) and THD at or below 0.05% under nominal conditions. Channel separation and crosstalk specifications support clear stereo imaging and independent mixes.
Connectivity includes balanced XLR and TRS stereo inputs plus unbalanced RCA connectivity for input 2, per-channel balanced TRS direct inputs, and balanced TRS foldback outputs for chaining. The front panel offers per-channel level control and mono switching while the rear panel provides a ground terminal and ground lift switch for system grounding. Foldback outputs allow input signals 1 and 2 to be looped to additional MH-8 units for expanded systems.
Typical use cases include monitoring multiple talent or engineers in a broadcast suite, distributed headphone mixes for tracking sessions in recording studios, and foldback systems for live performance monitoring. The MH-8 is suited to installation where separate headphone mixes are required without adding bulky external mixers. Its signal routing options let you combine or isolate sources per listener.
The MH-8 is built in a rugged metal chassis with an internal power supply and user-replaceable fuse for dependable long-term service. Rear-panel ground lift and a dedicated ground terminal help prevent hum and ground loops in complex installations. Installation is straightforward – mount in a standard 19 inch rack, connect inputs and headphones, set channel levels and use foldback outputs to expand the system.
