Description
The Electro-Voice RE3-ND86-5L is a complete handheld UHF wireless microphone set designed for live sound and broadcast applications. This set combines a rugged dynamic mic head, a 1/2-rack diversity receiver, and a threaded handheld transmitter body. It provides stable RF performance across the 488-524 MHz 5L band.
The microphone head uses a large Mylar diaphragm and a supercardioid polar pattern to deliver clear vocal presence and strong off-axis rejection. The head includes a 4-point capsule suspension and a tuned pneumatic base to minimize handling noise. The Memraflex tight-mesh grille and hydrophobic cloth membrane protect the capsule from moisture and debris.
The rack-mount RE3 receiver offers diversity reception, frequency scanning, and wireless synchronization to the transmitter. The receiver supports selectable tuning in 25 kHz steps and displays operating parameters on an easy-to-read LCD. Diversity circuitry chooses the better antenna signal moment-by-moment to reduce dropouts.
The handheld transmitter body accepts 1.25in diameter, 28-thread pitch microphone heads using a common 3-contact ring coupling. It runs on two AA alkaline or NiMH cells and features selectable transmit power to suit short or long range needs. Ultrasonic sync and BC2 charging contacts simplify setup and battery management for rechargeable cells.
The set covers a 36 MHz tuning bandwidth within the 488-524 MHz range and provides 1440 selectable frequencies to avoid interference channels. Transmit power options include 10 mW and 50 mW depending on band settings. The system is designed for reliable operation near stage equipment and speaker cabinets thanks to the humbucking coil that reduces EMI and AC hum.
Installation and daily use are straightforward – the threaded coupling lets technicians quickly attach or swap mic heads while the receiver occupies only 1/2 rack space. The all-metal transmitter body and durable grille ensure the system endures frequent handling and transport. Overall the RE3-ND86-5L delivers dependable RF performance, robust mechanical design, and clear vocal reproduction for professional AV setups.
