Description
The RS400i is a 4-inch coaxial open-ceiling speaker designed to provide reliable two-way audio coverage in commercial spaces. It uses an open-ceiling enclosure and a ported design to extend low-frequency response down to 76 Hz and maintain consistent output across the mid and high bands. This compact ceiling speaker balances size and acoustic performance for installed audio systems.
Key features include SoundTube BroadBeam waveguide technology for consistent dispersion, a 4.0 inch polypropylene woofer and a 1.0 inch convex titanium tweeter with FerroFluid cooling. The speaker incorporates weatherized components and a patented ZeroReflection enclosure to improve cabinet rigidity and sound reproduction. A five-position tap switch supports 25/70.7/100-volt distributed systems and includes a transformer bypass setting.
Performance specifications include a nominal impedance of 4 ohm, sensitivity rated at 85.5 dB @ 2.83 V/1 m and 82.5 dB @ 1 W/1 m, and a frequency response of 95 Hz – 20 kHz (-3 dB). Maximum continuous power is 20 W RMS with 40 W program power and a max SPL of 95.5 dB at 1 m. Directivity metrics show a Q of 3.5 averaged 100 Hz – 10 kHz and a directivity index near 4.2 averaged over the same band.
Connectivity options include a four-pin 5.08 mm Euroblock input for individual or daisy-chain wiring and a weather boot for terminal protection. The included UL listed hanging hardware features galvanized steel cables and an integrated SpeedClamp self-locking cable grip for fast, secure suspension. An optional surface-mount bracket (AC-RS-SM5) is available when ceiling-mount installation is not possible.
The RS400i is suitable for retail environments, hospitality spaces, restaurants and outdoor covered areas where weatherized components are required. Its BroadBeam dispersion supports even edge-to-edge coverage which improves speech intelligibility in spaces with reflective ceilings. UL 1480 and CE compliances make it appropriate for many commercial installations.
Installation is straightforward thanks to the low-profile grille, included hanging hardware and selectable taps for common distributed voltage systems – simplifying inventory and deployment. The cabinet is constructed from glass-fiber reinforced injection-molded ABS and protected with a powder-coated steel grille for lasting durability. Available in black or white paint finishes, the RS400i can be customized with optional paint colors.
