Description
The RS500i is a 5.25 inch coaxial open-ceiling speaker designed to deliver balanced two-way audio performance in distributed audio and background music systems. It combines a polypropylene woofer and a titanium dome tweeter mounted to a cast-aluminum baffle to maintain clarity and reliability. The open-ceiling ported enclosure improves low-frequency response while keeping the overall enclosure depth minimal.
Key features include BroadBeam waveguide technology that expands consistent dispersion through the mid and high bands and a six-position tap selector for 25V / 70.7V / 100V systems plus a transformer bypass position. The driver assembly uses FerroFluid cooling in the tweeter motor to manage thermal stress under sustained program power. The grille and enclosure finishes are designed for long-term durability in indoor and protected outdoor environments.
Performance specifications offer a measured frequency response of 87 Hz to 22 kHz (-3 dB) and extended response to 61 Hz at -10 dB, with 86.5 dB sensitivity and a maximum SPL of 105.5 dB. Nominal impedance is 8 ohm and the speaker supports 75 watts RMS continuous power and 150 watts program power. Coverage angles are engineered to provide wide area coverage – averaged 95 degrees between 2 and 10 kHz – reducing the number of loudspeakers required for even zones.
Connectivity options include a four-pin 5.08 mm Euroblock for individual or daisy-chain connections and a selectable transformer for distributed-line installations. The tap selector provides simple selection of low-voltage taps or transformer bypass for direct 8 ohm operation. The system is compatible with common commercial audio amplifiers and paging systems used in public and commercial environments.
Typical applications include retail background music systems, restaurants, hospitality spaces, conference areas, and covered outdoor venues where an open-ceiling form factor and wide dispersion are desirable. The RS500i is suitable for both speech and music reproduction and can be used in mixed-source installations where consistent coverage and intelligibility are required. The BroadBeam dispersion helps maintain tonal balance at off-axis listening positions across large coverage areas.
Installation is simplified by a low-profile grille and compact enclosure geometry that fits common ceiling cavities and plenum spaces. The rugged construction uses glass-fiber reinforced ABS and an Iridite-plated steel grille for corrosion resistance and long service life. UL and CE approvals provide compliance with industry safety standards and facilitate specification in commercial projects.
