Description
The RU-BNF is a bi-directional Format-A to Dante network audio interface designed for professional AV and installed audio systems. It converts three Format-A pairs to Dante network channels and converts three Dante channels back to Format-A outputs. The module also provides a fourth balanced/unbalanced AUX channel that is mapped to Dante and to a balanced line output.
The unit supports 24-bit converters and sample rates of 44.1 kHz and 48 kHz, and provides front-panel signal indicators for each channel. Format-A outputs are distributed to three separate RJ45 jacks, each providing up to 200 mA of power for connected Format-A modules. The front-panel AUX input includes a gain control and dual-LED VU meter for accurate level setting.
Audio performance is defined by a flat frequency response across 20 Hz to 20 kHz and distortion below 0.1 percent. Crosstalk is specified below 80 dB and common-mode rejection exceeds 90 dB on Format-A inputs. The device operates at professional line levels with -18 dBFS equaling +4 dBu and greater than 18 dB of headroom above +4 dBu.
Connectivity includes a Dante-enabled RJ45 network port with link and speed indicators plus three Format-A RJ45 outputs and one Format-A input. AUX input and AUX balanced output use detachable terminal blocks for flexible wiring. The RU-BNF is compatible with the full range of RDL Format-A senders and receivers and supports long cable runs over CATx to remote Format-A devices.
Typical applications include conference rooms, paging and background music distribution, and AV closets where conversion between analog Format-A and Dante is required. The RU-BNF can aggregate multiple analog sources onto a Dante network and distribute Dante channels as local Format-A outputs for wall plates or powered receivers. It is suitable for commercial installations that require networked audio integration between digital audio networks and analog Format-A endpoints.
The RU-BNF is built in an all-metal enclosure suitable for rack, shelf, or surface mounting and is engineered for continuous duty. It is powered by an external 24 Vdc supply or, on the RU-BNFP variant, by PoE Class 0 IEEE 802.3af. Front-panel LEDs show network sync and signal presence to aid commissioning and troubleshooting.
