Description
The RU-FN is a rack-mountable Format-A to Dante network audio interface designed to integrate RDL Format-A twisted-pair sources into Dante audio networks. It accepts three Format-A signal pairs plus a balanced or unbalanced AUX input and converts them to four Dante channels. This unit is built for continuous commercial and industrial installations and fits on racks, shelves or backboards.
The RU-FN converts Format-A pairs A, B and C to individual Dante channels and provides a fourth Dante channel sourced from the front-panel AUX input. Front-panel LEDs indicate signal presence for each Format-A pair and a dual-LED VU meter monitors AUX input level while a gain control adjusts input sensitivity. High-resolution 24-bit converters and RDL analog filtering maintain low noise and accurate audio reproduction.
Digital audio is carried over a 100 Mbps Ethernet connection using Dante and supports 44.1 kHz and 48 kHz sample rates with 24-bit depth. Measured performance includes frequency response of 20 Hz to 20 kHz, THD+N of < 0.1% and noise below -4 dBu of < -75 dB. The unit provides greater than 18 dB headroom above +4 dBu and CMRR better than 90 dB on Format-A input pairs.
Connectivity includes an RJ45 Format-A input that can supply up to 200 mA to remote Format-A senders and an AUX balanced detachable terminal block for line-level sources. The network port provides Link and Speed indicators and the module supports Dante network synchronization indicators. Power is supplied by an external 24 Vdc source or optional PoE on the RU-FNP model and the Format-A RJ45 power is protected by an auto-resetting fuse.
Typical installations include conference room audio feeds, distributed paging system inputs, or integration of wall-plate senders into a Dante audio infrastructure. The RU-FN accepts Format-A sender outputs located nearby or several thousand feet away, enabling flexible system topology. Its front-panel metering and signal indicators simplify setup when no computer is present at the module location.
The RU-FN is housed in an all-metal enclosure suitable for free-standing, surface-mounted or rack-mounted installation and is engineered for long-term duty in commercial environments. The external 24 Vdc supply (sold separately) or PoE option powers the chassis and connected Format-A senders, and LED indicators assist with basic troubleshooting. This product is manufactured in the U.S.A. and is designed for reliable networked audio conversion in professional installations.
