Description
The RU-MLB2 is a 2×2 bi-directional Dante audio network interface that bridges analog mic/line sources and Dante network channels. It converts two Dante receive channels to balanced line outputs and converts two mic or line inputs to Dante transmit channels. The unit is designed for commercial and installation environments where reliable networked audio I/O is required.
The module provides two balanced outputs that deliver +4 dBu for a network level of -18 dBFS and two inputs that are switch-selectable for mic or line. Microphone inputs offer automatic gain switching – 40 dB for condenser mics and 60 dB for dynamic mics – plus P48 phantom power on each channel. Line inputs accept balanced +4 dBu or unbalanced -10 dBV and provide greater than 18 dB headroom.
High-resolution 24-bit A/D and D/A converters support 44.1 kHz and 48 kHz sample rates with a default of 48 kHz, producing transparent audio performance. Measured THD+N is better than 0.1% on inputs and better than 0.05% on outputs while crosstalk and noise floor figures remain well below operating level. Front-panel signal LEDs and network sync indicators simplify local setup and monitoring.
Connectivity includes an RJ45 network connection for Dante audio at 100 Mbps plus detachable balanced and unbalanced terminal blocks for inputs and outputs. Rear-panel selectors set each input to MIC or LINE and separate wiring terminals are provided for balanced and unbalanced sources. The RU-MLB2 provides Link and Speed LED feedback and dedicated signal LEDs for each channel.
This module is suited to rack, shelf, table or backboard mounting in broadcast, corporate AV, houses of worship and conferencing systems where compact networked analog interfacing is required. It enables remote distribution of mic and line sources and delivers professional line-level outputs to amplifiers, DSPs and consoles. The automatic microphone gain eliminates manual gain staging when changing mic types, saving setup time on site.
The RU-MLB2 is powered from an external 24 Vdc supply (sold separately) and the RU-MLB2P variant supports IEEE 802.3af PoE Class 0 with seamless switchover between external power and PoE. The all-metal enclosure is built for continuous duty and supports surface or rack mounting, providing durable long-term operation in installed systems.
