The SAS-HC8 Headphone Control Station is a dedicated listening station designed for SourceFlex distributed audio systems. It provides local source selection and user-adjustable volume control for a single headphone user. The unit is intended for countertop or exercise equipment mounting and is built to maintain safe listening behavior.
Controls include a numeric source selector and momentary volume ramp up and down buttons that are sealed to protect internal circuitry. The sealed touch controls resist moisture and debris and the numeric LED display shows the selected channel. An internal processor automatically reduces volume to a safe level if headphones are left disconnected.
Audio performance is engineered for clarity and stability with a 50 Hz to 35 kHz frequency response and THD+N below 0.1% in the audio band. The amplifier delivers 200 mW RMS into 100 ohm and the ramp rate is nominally 5 seconds for a 40 dB adjustment. These parameters provide controlled, low-distortion headphone listening across the audible range.
Connectivity is provided via a 6-position detachable terminal block for system signals and a choice of 1/4 in or 1/8 in headphone jacks for user connection. Control signals between the listening station and the SourceFlex controller are DC on dedicated RAMP and CONTROL conductors. The 7-segment red LED indicates channel selection and provides clear user feedback.
Typical applications include gym equipment audio stations, countertop listening stations in retail or hospitality environments, and demo or training setups requiring user headphone access. The automatic volume reset prevents unexpected loud bursts when headphones are connected and improves user safety.
