Description
The SM500i-II-WX is a 5.25in coaxial surface-mount speaker designed to deliver clear full-range audio in challenging environments. It provides consistent coverage across the mid and high bands while extending usable low end down to 60 Hz. The weatherized enclosure and stainless fasteners make the model suitable for exposed installations.
Key features include SoundTube BroadBeam waveguide technology that maintains consistent dispersion up to 10 kHz and a convex titanium tweeter with FerroFluid cooling for reliable HF performance. The speaker uses a polypropylene woofer for robust low-frequency output and an internal six-position tap switch for 25/70.7/100-volt systems plus a transformer bypass. An included Stealth bracket enables low-profile mounting with unlimited directional aiming and a security knob to reduce tampering.
Technical performance includes an 86.0 dB sensitivity at 2.83V/1m and a maximum SPL of 102 dB RMS at 1m, supporting a 75 W RMS continuous rating and 150 W program power. Frequency response is specified at 86 Hz to 22 kHz (-3 dB) and 60 Hz to 22 kHz (-10 dB). Coverage averages 100 degrees horizontal and vertical across 2 to 10 kHz while directivity and DI are provided for system design and prediction.
Connectivity options comprise a four-pin 5.08 mm Euroblock for individual or daisy-chain wiring and a six-position rotary tap selector with transformer bypass for distributed systems. The enclosure is injection-molded ABS reinforced with glass fiber and an aluminum grille has a powder-coat finish for corrosion resistance. UL 1480 (UEAY) is planned for installations requiring regulatory listing.
Practical applications include foreground and background music, paging and voice evacuation capable systems where weather resistance and aiming flexibility are required. The SM500i-II-WX suits outdoor covered areas, patios, transit shelters, and indoor facilities needing surface-mounted solutions. Its broad dispersion reduces the number of speakers required to achieve even coverage across an area.
Installation is straightforward using the included Stealth bracket, safety cable and Euroblock connector; the low-profile enclosure keeps the speaker close to the mounting surface. The six-position tap switch allows quick configuration on-site and the aimable bracket supports both vertical and horizontal pivoting. Corrosion-resistant hardware and a sealed terminal weather boot simplify long-term maintenance and reliability.
