Description
The SM590i-II-WX is a high-output 5.25 inch coaxial surface-mount speaker designed to deliver clear speech and music in exposed environments. It combines a polypropylene woofer and a 1.0 inch convex aluminum tweeter with a tractrix profile horn to maintain controlled directivity across the mid and high bands. The enclosure uses patented ZeroReflection technology to minimize cabinet reflections and preserve clarity.
Key features include a six-position tap switch with transformer bypass, a 64 watt transformer for 25/70.7/100 volt systems, and a low-profile aluminum grille with powder-coat finish. The WX Weather Guard material reduces water penetration through grille openings while preserving acoustic transparency. All exposed components are plastic, aluminum or stainless steel to resist corrosion in severe weather conditions.
Performance specifications support demanding installations with an 87 dB sensitivity rating and a maximum SPL of 106 dB at 1 m. Frequency response extends to 69 Hz at -10 dB and up to 22 kHz, providing usable low end and extended HF. Power handling is specified as 80 W RMS continuous and 160 W program, with a 3 kHz crossover point between drivers.
Connectivity is via a four-pin 5.08 mm Euroblock that supports individual or daisy-chain connections and an easy-access six-position rotary tap selector for common constant-voltage wiring schemes. A transformer bypass position is included for low-impedance direct drive. The speaker includes a safety cable, terminal weather boot and the Stealth bracket mounting system for secure installations.
The SM590i-II-WX is suitable for exposed interiors and covered outdoor zones such as shopping areas, transit facilities and sports venues where weather resistance and consistent coverage are required. Its averaged coverage pattern of approximately 80 degrees horizontal delivers even dispersion across the 2 to 10 kHz band. Aiming flexibility and a compact profile make the unit simple to integrate into existing speaker layouts.
Installation is simplified by the Stealth bracket which provides unlimited directional aiming and a security knob to reduce tampering after placement. The low-profile enclosure keeps the speaker close to the wall while allowing vertical and horizontal pivoting for precise alignment. The unit carries IP44 approval and has UL 1480 (UEAY) planned, supporting compliance requirements in professional AV projects.
