Description
The ST-GLA1 is a gated line amplifier that provides automatic switching and integral noise reduction for line-level audio. It produces a clean, muted output when signals fall below a user-set threshold and restores full level when audio resumes. This module is designed for reliable performance in audio installs and distributed systems.
Key features include self-gating to suppress unwanted noise, adjustable gain, and fast silent audio switching. The unit provides single-ended noise reduction and an open-collector logic output for control or triggering other equipment. Two LED indicators simplify threshold and gain adjustment.
Performance specifications include a frequency response of 10 Hz to 30 kHz within ±0.25 dB and THD+N under 0.2 percent. Headroom exceeds 16 dB above a +4 dBu reference and residual muted noise is below -95 dB. Switching time is 30 ms and muting attenuation is greater than 60 dB, ensuring transparent gating behavior.
Connectivity is flexible: the input and output may be wired balanced or unbalanced and the audio output is nominally +4 dBu into 150 ohms via terminal block. The detector bandwidth covers 20 Hz to 5 kHz for reliable speech and program detection. A ground-referenced 24 Vdc supply at 75 mA powers the module.
Typical applications include automatic mixing systems, input noise suppression for conventional mixers and amplifiers, and adding gated line-level control to distributed audio systems. The open-collector slave output can trigger other RDL modules or external devices to coordinate audio or logic functions. The unit is suitable for live venues, conference rooms, and installed sound systems.
Installation is straightforward using the terminal-block connections and simple front-panel adjustments for gain and threshold. The module operates in ambient temperatures from 0 C to 55 C and ships in a compact cardboard box. The ST-GLA1 delivers practical noise gating and level control in a compact module designed for integration into professional audio systems.
