Description
The STD-10K is a passive 10 kOhm balanced audio divider and combiner designed to split or combine balanced audio lines without active electronics. It provides a compact resistive branching network with RF filtering on each channel – enabling clean audio routing and basic RF suppression for professional audio signals. This unit accepts any channel as either an input or an output so routing is flexible and straightforward.
The module features four balanced channels labeled A through D which can be used in any input/output combination – split one source to multiple destinations or combine multiple sources into one feed. Each channel includes resistive network behavior that results in a nominal insertion loss of 3 dB and an isolation between channels of approximately 3 dB. The STD-10K supports a maximum signal input level of +22 dBu for high-headroom operation.
Technically, the STD-10K is a passive device requiring no external power and employing a 10 kOhm input/output impedance to match high-impedance line-level equipment. The RF filtering on each channel helps reject unwanted radio-frequency interference from entering the audio path. Because the topology is resistive, isolation is limited; for higher isolation use active mixing or distribution amplifiers.
Connectivity is provided on balanced inputs and outputs to maintain noise rejection in professional installations – any channel can serve as an input or an output for flexible wiring. The compact STICK-ON form factor makes the unit easy to mount near equipment or inside racks where space is limited. The product ships in a small cardboard box for simple deployment.
Common use cases include combining stereo outputs to a mono input, feeding a mono source to stereo inputs, splitting a mono signal to multiple inputs, and combining multiple microphone outputs to a single amplifier input when output shorting switches are used. The device is intended for line-level audio distribution tasks where passive combining or splitting is acceptable. It is not a substitute for active mixers when gain control or high isolation is required.
Installation is simple and requires no power connection – connect balanced lines to the appropriate channels and position the module near equipment for minimal cabling. The rugged passive design provides reliable long-term operation in installed sound and broadcast environments – the unit offers a compact footprint and straightforward functionality. Overall, the STD-10K is a practical passive option for basic combining and splitting of balanced audio lines.
