The SoundTube XT850-GN is an 8 in coaxial outdoor loudspeaker engineered to deliver full-range background and foreground music and paging in exposed environments. It combines a sealed in-ground enclosure with coaxial transducers to deliver extended low-frequency response and uniform coverage. The model is available in granite green for discreet outdoor integration.
The XT850 features SoundTube BroadBeam waveguide technology that produces 360 deg horizontal dispersion for consistent coverage across open areas. The speaker integrates an 8 in polypropylene woofer with butyl rubber surround and a 1 in aluminum dome tweeter mounted to an integrated horn for coherent coaxial output. A weather-proof 5-position tap selector provides 25/70.7/100 Volt taps and a transformer bypass position for low-impedance operation.
Performance metrics include a nominal impedance of 4 Ohms, 85.0 dB sensitivity (1 W/1 m) and a maximum SPL of 105 dB at 1 m, supporting up to 100 Watts RMS continuous and 200 Watts program power. Frequency response measures approximately 51 Hz to 10 kHz at -3 dB with extended response to 38 Hz at -10 dB, delivering solid low end from a sealed enclosure. The onboard 64 Watt transformer supplies tapped line levels for distributed systems when required.
Connectivity is provided via an 18-gauge wire lead and multiple wire inlet locations to facilitate daisy-chaining and clean installations. The enclosure uses liquid-tight compression fittings and includes a water-tight strain relief for weatherproof cable entry. Stainless-steel fasteners and a powder-coated stainless grille enhance security and corrosion resistance for outdoor use.
Typical applications include theme parks, promenades, playgrounds, shopping districts, restaurants, resorts and landscape audio installations where wide-area coverage and vandal resistance are needed. The 360 deg horizontal pattern reduces the number of loudspeakers required to cover open spaces and simplifies system layout and zoning. The sealed Zero-Reflection enclosure design maintains consistent off-axis performance in planted or buried installations.
Installation is straightforward with anti-theft in-ground brackets and stainless-steel square-tip screws included to deter tampering. The roto-molded polyethylene enclosure is UV, scratch, chlorine and weather resistant to withstand long-term outdoor exposure. Combined with UL 1480 pending, CE approval and IP55 rating, the XT850-GN provides a rugged and reliable outdoor audio solution.
