Description
The XT850 is an 8 in coaxial outdoor speaker engineered to deliver full-range background and foreground audio in exposed environments. It pairs an 8 in polypropylene woofer and a 1 in aluminum dome tweeter in a sealed, in-ground enclosure to extend low-frequency response down to 38 Hz -10 dB. The enclosure is roto-molded and weather sealed to protect components and preserve acoustic performance over time.
Patented BroadBeam waveguide technology provides a true 360 deg horizontal dispersion pattern to ensure even coverage across plazas, promenades, and landscaped spaces. The speaker includes a 5-position tap switch for 25 / 70.7 / 100 Volt systems and a transformer bypass for low-impedance direct drive, with a 64 Watt transformer included. Stainless-steel fasteners and grille plus theft-resistant mounting hardware increase physical security in public installations.
Performance specifications include 85.0 dB sensitivity at 1W/1m and a maximum continuous RMS rating of 100 Watts with 200 Watts program power capability. The frequency response is listed as 51 Hz to 10 kHz (-3 dB) and extends to 38 Hz at -10 dB. Maximum SPL at 1 m reaches 105 dB enabling clear paging and music playback at moderate distances.
Connectivity is provided via 18-gauge wire lead input and multiple wire inlet locations to simplify daisy chaining. Liquid-tight compression fittings and water-tight strain reliefs support long-term outdoor use and help maintain IP55 ingress protection. The tap selector supports distributed audio architectures and transformer bypass for direct amplifier connections.
Typical applications include resorts, restaurants, theme parks, shopping promenades, and gardens where uniform 360 deg coverage and weather resistance are required. The sealed Zero-Reflection enclosure preserves low end while reducing ground reflection artifacts when installed in-ground. Color options such as sandstone help the speaker blend into landscape and architectural settings.
Installation is simplified by anti-theft brackets, stainless-steel square-tip screws, and multiple cable entry points for fast deployment and secure mounting. The roto-molded polyethylene enclosure and UV-, chlorine-, and scratch-resistant finishes reduce maintenance and extend service life. UL 1480 pending, CE approved, and RoHS compliant, the XT850 balances weather resistance, security, and acoustic consistency.
